covered lagoon digester for chicken droppings

biogas from poultry waste of chicken farming

biogas from layer chicken farms - biogas from poultry litter - poultry waste

Until now it has not been possible to use pure poultry  waste (chicken droppings) in digesters to produce biogas  due to its high nitrogen content and low C: N ratio, that inhibits the digestion process.

This organic waste can have a negative impact on the environment and public health, because the droppings contain high contents of nitrogen (4.48 %), total organic carbon (16.5 %) and pathogenic bacteria, mainly Staphylococci and Enterobacteriaceae. On the average, the physical compositions of chicken droppings include faeces, urine and litters which are mainly made up of nitrates. Nitrate pollution is undesirable because of its potential role in eutrophication, methemoglobinemia and nitrosamines formation.

Aqualimpia Engineering e.K. (AQL) has developed during three years (2013-2014-2015) a research project funded by the German Government through the GIZ with the DeveloPPP program, to determine the optimal parameters for the design and operation of digesters for pure poultry waste. As a result of this research carried out in El Salvador, AQL has the technology and is building and operating digesters where pure chicken droppings is used. The results of this project demonstrate that pure chicken droppings can be used for biogas production and for the production  of organic fertilizer with high nutritional value.

Through our  technology up to 150 m3 of biogas can be produced for each ton of poultry waste under anaerobic conditions in CSTR covered lagoon digester.

POULTRY FARM DIGESTER

No two chicken farms are precisely alike. That's why Aqualimpia Engineering  offers multiple agricultural waste management solutions for capturing methane, treating odors and bacteria, separating solids, managing soil nutrients and cleaning water.

Aqualimpia Engineering e.K.  has worked on the following projects for the treatment of poultry waste (poultry droppings)  from caged layers  in digesters. The biogas from the digester is used as fuel for generators or steam boilers.
